Just in: Supreme Court dismisses Atiku’s application to file additional evidence

1.9k

Justice Nyang Okoro of the Supreme Court has dismissed the application filed by the Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, for seeking the leave of the court to file additional evidence in the appeal against the verdict of the Presidential Election Petitions Court.

Okoro, who is reading the judgment of the justices, held that the application contradicted the appeal before the court and that the attempt also contravened the 180 days provided for in the 2022 Electoral Act.

He said granting the application will affect the judgment of the lower court (Presidential Election Petitions Court) and give the Appellant (Atiku) undue advantage.
