UNUBIKO Foundation settles millions of Naira hospital bills of detained poor patients at FMC, Umuahia

UNUBIKO Foundation, a non-governmental humanitarian organization, has intervened in the payment of the bills of some indigent patients, who were detained at the Federal Medical Centre, (FMC), Umuahia, Abia State, for their inability to settle their bills after being discharged.

The Founder/ Chairman of UNUBIKO Foundation, Chief Chijioke James Ume (Ike Abam) said the donations were made to help the needy and indigent go back to their homes, reunite with their families and resume their normal life.

The Foundation also paid the bills of people from Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency who were on admission at the hospital, Ume was represented by Engr. (Dr) Okoro Christopher Kalu, said.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Njasi Agwu, from Ohafia, said that if not for Ike Abam’s intervention, her hope of returning to her house any time soon would have been dashed.

She said she was discharged weeks ago but detained because she could not raise the balance of N601,0000 and prayed to God to bless the Foundation and its founder, Chief James Chijioke Ume for the kind gestures.

Another beneficiary, Jombo Goodness, who was at Ludlow ward, expressed joy to God Almighty for bringing an “ange” in human form to pay her hospital bill.

According to her, she was discharged on June 9, 2023 but was unable to raise N309,000 balance.

She described Ike Abam as a messiah sent by God to help people like her.

Similarly, Mrs. Enyinnaya Akudo, who benefited from the philanthropic gesture of the Foundation, was overwhelmed with happiness when the news of the payment of the hospital bill of N411,000 was made.

She and other patients in the ward thanked God for bringing UNUBIKO Foundation to come their aid.

Responding, Prof. Onyebuchi Azubuike, Chief medical Director of the hospital, who was represented by Mr. Anosike Uche, Executive Officer, Medical Social Welfare, FMC, Umuahia, commended UNUBIKO FOUNDATION and its founder, Chief Chijioke James Ume(Ike Abam) for the noble and humanitarian gestures and prayed to God to reward him abundantly.
