Seven months after the Presidential election in which he came third, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to “reintroduce” himself to Nigerians amid the Chicago State University certificate saga.

Obi, while addressing newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, urged Tinubu for the avoidance of further doubts to let the world know his name, nationality, place of birth, parentage and the primary and secondary schools he attended with dates.

He noted that the alleged question mark sorrounding his identity has worsened “Nigeria’s glorious image internationally”.

The former governor of Anambra State pointed out that having occupied the highest office in the land, Tinubu no longer has a right to any privacy regarding his identity.

” I therefore call on him respectfully and humbly to mount the rostrum of his present high office to perform a simple task, he should reintroduce himself to the nation he governs and to the world for the avoidance of further doubts,” Persecond News quotes Obi as saying.

Mr Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential flag bearer in the last presidential poll, had requested the release of President Tinubu’s certificate from CSU over the suspicion that the cerficate submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) may not be authentic.

He said his quest for the authenticity of Tinubu’s certificate “is a quest for the enthronement of truth, morality, and accountability in our public affairs.”

“In line with this, therefore, I am calling on all well-meaning Nigerians, leaders of thought, religious leaders, traditional leaders, community leaders, political leaders, and in particular Obi and Kwankwaso, and indeed, every single person who loves this country, as I do.

“And those who wish nothing but the best for the country, to join me in this campaign to enshrine probity, accountability and the basic principles of justice, morality and uprightness in our country and in our government.

“Today, we are called upon again as a people to uphold and defend the ground rules of elective government in our country.

“The Constitution prescribes the requirements for those who seek the highest elective office in the land. It is nothing personal.”
