Meet President Tinubu’s additional ministerial nominees

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday named three additional ministerial nominees and forwarded the list to the Senate for confirmation.

The new nominees include Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Balarebe Abbas Lawal and Ayodele Olawande.

Persecondnews recalls that on September 17, Tinubu had announced Dr. Ibrahim to serve as the Minister of Youth and Olawande to serve as the Minister of State for Youth, pending their confirmation by the Senate.

Dr.Jamila Bio Ibrahim

Dr. Jamila Ibrahim hails from Kwara State. She is the daughter of Ibrahim Bio, a former Minister of Sports in President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

Prior to her recent appointment, Dr. Ibrahim was National President of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Young Women Forum (PYWF), and also served as Senior Special Assistant on Health matters to the Governor of Kwara.

At 37, she is a medical doctor, a development expert and a strong advocate of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

She has volunteered in various humanitarian capacities, particularly in the North-East region of Nigeria under the Presidential Committee on the North-East Initiative (PCNI). She is also dedicated to advocating for women and youth emancipation, emphasizing their participation in socio-political activities for community and national development.

Balarebe Abbas Lawal

Balarabe Abbas hails from Kachia Local Government, Kaduna State.

Born in Zaria on February 5, 1958, Balarabe attended the famous Kofar Kuyambana Primary School, Zaria from 1964 to 1970 where he obtained his Primary School Leaving Certificate. He was admitted into the famous elite Barewa College Zaria in 1971, where his path and that of el-Rufai crossed. He later proceeded to the then Katsina College of Arts, Science and Technology, Zaria for his higher education.

Balarabe Abbas holds M.Sc in Political Science from ABU and has attended several courses including the General Management Course (GMC), Administrative College of Nigeria (ASCON) Topo-Badagary, Lagos; Management Trainers Course (MTC) Thames Valley College now Thames Valley University Slough UK; Privatisation and Infrastructure Development Course at the Center for Financial Engineering and Development ( CFED) based in Washington DC, USA; the Public Private Partnership Course at the Institute of Public Private Partnership (IP3) in Washington DC USA.

He also attended the Managing People Well Course in the Executive Management Development Program of Cranfield University, United Kingdom and the International Visitor Program (IVLP) of the State Department, the Leadership in Development at John F Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University Boston, MA, and Schulich School of Business Executive Education Centre of York University, Toronto, Canada.

He was at different times a Special Assistant to the Minister of State for Education, Minister of State for Army, Ministry of Defence, and also served as Secretary to the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-rufai, from 2015 to 2023.

Ayodele Olawande

Ayodele Olawande hails from Ondo State in Southwest. He completed his secondary school education in Ekiti State at Christ School, proceeded to the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, and later to Federal University of Technology, Akure, for his degree.

He is an active youth mobilizer, especially for the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ondo and Lagos State and was appointed as the Youth Coordinator for the APC Lagos State Chapter.

Until his nomination by the President, Ayo was the Strategic Communication Officer at Emerging Community Africa, a project of the European Union (EU) and also the Operation Manager at the Way Project Nigeria Limited.
