Palliatives: Assault on Commissioner an affront on govt, criminal — Ondo Govt.

Following assault and bodily injury inflicted on the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Bunmi Osadahun by a man during the distribution of subsidy palliatives, the Ondo Government has strongly condemned the savagery and brutality.

A Chairman of APC in Akoko Northwest Local Government area had last physically assaulted the Commissioner
at the venue of palliative distribution.

The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, said in a statement issued on behalf of government that an investigation into the incident has begun with a promise that the full weight of the law will be brought on the attacker if found guilty.

“An assault on a government official on duty is not only criminal, it is an affront on the government,” he said.

Ademola-Olateju reminded the public, that the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) law prohibits all forms of violence against persons and provides maximum protection and effective remedies for victims and punishments to offenders.

She said the state government will continue to do its best to reach the most vulnerable in the distribution of palliatives.
