President Bola Tinubu has been invited by the United States Chamber of Commerce to ring the closing bell of NASDAQ on September 20.

The National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations Stock Market (NASDAQ) is an American stock exchange based in New York City and it is the most active stock trading venue in the U.S. by volume.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, in a statement on Monday, said the invitation of President Tinubu is aimed at strengthening the economic bond between the two countries.

Persecondnews reports that the United States was the largest foreign investor in Nigeria in 2022; the two-way trade in goods between the US and Nigeria totaled over $8.1billion and Nigeria is the second largest U.S. export destination in Sub-Saharan Africa.

“We hope this celebration and the discussion as part of the U.S.-Nigeria Executive Business Dialogue serve to further strengthen economic ties and enhance collaboration between the U.S. and Nigerian business communities,” the statement, obtained by Persecondnews said.

The bell-ringing ceremony by Tinubu will take place on the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
