Improper dressing: House of Reps sends errant member out of chambers

For improper dressing and violating its dress code, a lawmaker made an inglorious exit from the House of Representatives on Wednesday following an observation by another lawmaker.

Persecondnews reports that a mild drama had ensued when a member, who came into the chambers was walked out for improper dressing.

The lawmaker, whose identity could not be ascertained because he is one of the newly elected members, had donned a red a fire red T-shirt and brown trousers.

The errant lawmaker had sauntered into the chambers and took his seat at the upper gallery of the House when proceedings for the day were being rounded off.

Rep. Billy Osaweru had raised a Point of Order, drawing the attention of Speaker Tajudeen Abbas to the lawmaker’s improper dressing.

Osaweru pointed out that the lawmaker’s dressing was in contravention of the House dress code.

The Speaker immediately wielded the “big stick” and ordered the lawmaker out of the chamber, through the sergeant-at- arms.
