Tinubu to travel to Paris for new global financing pact summit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will attend the international Summit for a New Global Financing Pact next week, Per Second News  confirmed Saturday.

The president will meet with France President Emmanuel Macron, host of the international summit tagged ” Focus 2030.”

The summit aims to build a new consensus for a more inclusive international financial system to fight inequalities, finance the climate transition and bring us closer to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The summit will hold from June 22 to 23, 2023, in Paris following the wishes of President Emmanuel Macron, shared during the COP27 in Egypt.

Per Second News gathered that during the Summit, the issues at stake are the repercussions of the multiple climate, energy, health and economic crises, particularly in the most vulnerable countries. The financing needed to address these crises will also be central to the event’s programme.

Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, president of the African Development Bank, will lead a roundtable discussion about the Alliance for Green Infrastructure in Africa with heads of state and representatives of development partners on 22 June 2023, according to organizers.

Numerous leaders have already been confirmed, including Mia Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados, Olaf Scholz, Chancellor of Germany, Filipe Nyusi, President of Mozambique, Luis Inacio Lula Da Silva, President of Brazil, and many others. Numerous representatives of international organizations, philanthropists and activists will also be present: Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank, Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, Ursula Von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, Vanessa Nakate, activist and UN Goodwill Ambassador, Melinda French Gates, philanthropist and co-founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and more.
