President Bola Tinubu has asked the nation’s security chiefs to come up with a blueprint on how to secure the country even as he said he would not accept a situation in which the nation’s fortunes keep declining.

According to Tinubu, a situation where security agencies work at cross purposes will no longer be tolerated.

He gave the warning on Thursday at his maiden meeting with the security chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

“National security has to be coordinated, there must be a clearing house going forward,” the National Security Adviser, retired Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno quotes Tinubu as saying.

He told State House correspondents at the end of the meeting that the President had directed all agencies must work together to achieve “one single purpose.”

“Working at cross purposes and colliding with each other is not something that he will condone.

“He has made it very, very clear that all the security agencies must comply with the demands of coordination, with the demands of frequent consultations and also timely reports which must be acted on,” he said.

While stating that that the President said he did not have the luxury of time, stressed that whatever changes that has to be made will be made as soon as possible.

On the armed forces, he also quoted Tinubu as saying: “They must be well fed, well kitted, motivated and given all that they require.”
