Mr Humphrey Anumodu, a businessman and governorship aspirant of the Labour Party (LP) for the November 11, 2023 election in Imo, is dead.
Persecondnews gathered that Anumodu had purchased the party’s nomination form for the upcoming governorship election in Imo and had filled and returned it to the secretariat in Abuja.
According to Mr Excel Ochiama, Imo LP’s Deputy Chairman, said Anumodu died on Friday night at his residence in Lagos.
“The Imo LP governorship hopeful died of cardiac arrest after returning from a party meeting in Abuja,” he said.
Anumodu, who hails from Obilubi Obazu Mbieri in Mbaitoli council area of the state, was a three-time gubernatorial contender in the state.
In 2019, Anumodu, a renowned businessman and brother to Willie, the founder of Globe Motors Nigeria, had contested on the platform of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and finished sixth with 3,999 votes.
He made a foray into politics in 1998 when he first contested the governorship seat on the People’s Democratic Party platform but lost the primary election to ex-Gov. Achike Udenwa.
