Tragedy as another DPO slumps, dies in office two weeks after Lagos DPO exits

Barely two weeks after a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) died in Lagos, SP Abubakar Musa, the DPO of Jahun Local Government Area in Jigawa State, has passed on in active service.

Musa collapsed and died in his office on Friday, January 27, according to spokesman for the State Police command, DSP. Lawan Shiisu Adamu.

Persecondnews reports that on January 10, 2023, SP Mojeed Salami, the DPO at Seme near Badagry, Lagos State at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border died mysteriously.

Salami had slumped in his office on January 10 and was confirmed dead at the hospital where he was rushed to.

The Jigawa police spokesman said in a statement on Saturday that the incident occurred on Friday night at 9.00 pm in the DPO’s office, who reportedly had a protracted illness.

“SP Abubakar Musa died yesterday around 9:00pm while closing from his official duty.”

He explained that the deceased was rushed to the Jahun General Hospital and Rashid Shekoni General Hospital and was later moved to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital where he was confirmed dead.

Meanwhile, Police Commissioner Emmanuel Ekot Effiom has condoled with the deceased’s family and the Nigeria Police.
