President Muhammadu Buhari will on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, unveil the newly designed N1,000, N500 and N200 notes and this is official.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele, disclosed this on Tuesday at a media briefing on the monetary policy communique.

The presidential unveiling comes ahead of the earlier scheduled date of December 15th, 2022 when the new notes will go into circulation.

Emefiele also corroborated President Buhari that “there is no going back on the January 31 date of ensuring that all old currencies would cease to be a legal tender.

“We are relying on our laws to push this policy forward.”

The CBN boss thanked Buhari for his support over the last seven and a half years, specifically lauding the president’s support for the new naira policy.

“We thank Mr. President for the support we have received from him for over seven and a half years. We thank security agencies for working with us for monitoring the flows.

“We thank the Senate, who besides the pressure is also given us support. We will not shift any deadline. It is in tandem with the law.

“We are no longer waiting till December 15th. By the 23rd of November, President will unveil the new naira notes and the FEC chambers by 10 am tomorrow,” Persecondnews quotes Emefiele as saying.
