For the umpteenth time, Wike jets out of Nigeria after Friday’s explosive media chat

Again, Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike, has travelled to London after he addressed a televised “explosive” media chat on Friday at the Government House, Port Harcourt.

He had opened what political watchers generally tagged a can of worms.

Persecondnews recalls that Wike has made frequent visits to the United Kingdom in the past few months for political meetings and negotiations in company of some PDP governors including Oyo State Gov. Seyi Makinde and his Abia counterpart, Victor Ikpeazu.

Wike has become an enfant terrible in the People’s Democratic Party lately over the vexed issue of retaining both the party’s chairmanship and the presidential candidacy in the North as against the PDP constitution.

He has been throwing tantrums, insisting that the party’s National Chairman should resign to pave the way for the emergence of a chairman from the South.

Highly dependable official source said the governor had flown a chattered flight from the Port Harcourt International Airport about midnight on Friday few hours after releasing the “bombshell”.

The source confirmed: “Yes, he (Wike) travelled last night but I don’t know his exact destination.”

Wike had accused the party’s National Chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, of manipulating the delegates and the presidential aspirations.

He also alleged that Ayu allegedly played a vital role considered to be detrimental to other aspirants in the emergence of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar as the PDP flagbearer.

The governor blamed the lingering crisis in the PDP on the failure of the party to zone its presidential ticket to the Southern region of the country.

According to him, Ayu called several presidential aspirants to step down for the former vice-president during the convention.

In addition, he said the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, had offered him a Senatorial ticket during their meeting in London last month.
