Breaking: Unidentified man breaks Gov. Wike’s security wall, attacks him at public occasion

A near-fatal security breach occurred on Wednesday at an event where Rivers Gov. Nyesom Wike and his Abia counterpart, Mr Victor lkpeazu were flagging off the Igwuruta intra-community road project.

Persecondnews reports that Wike, who had invited Gov. lkpeazu to the state for the flag off amid pomp and power, had released a tirade while delivering his speech at Igwuruta in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.

He had threatened to deal with some influential PDP leaders in the state for supporting former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar against him at the June 2022 presidential primary election held in Abuja which gave Atiku the party’s ticket.

No sooner than he finished his vituperative utterances that a young man in brown native attire (Buba and trousers) broke through the security network and grabbed Wike’s leg.

A visibly shocked Wike was, however, rescued by security agents who pounced on the attacker and whisked him away.

After Wike had held his audience spellbound with the bitter railing and condemnation spiced with songs of what he called “betrayal” by Rivers PDP leaders at the primary, he invited lkpeazu to the podium.

The governor during his speech revealed that he was being threatened by some powerful forces within the PDP.

“Time will come when Nigerians will know these types of characters; characters that will say all kinds of things because of power; characters that will be agents to destroy their own people.

“They should take one-day fasting and pray for their forgiveness because from what I have seen they are almost doomed.

“There is no amount of threats that will make me betray my people. I won’t do that; what I have said today is what I will say tomorrow. Go and check our history, we are not known for being betrayals at all,” Persecondnews quotes Wike as saying at the well-attended occasion televised live on ARISETV and TVC for about two hours.

In his speech, lkpeazu, who interspersed his “sermon” with references from the Holy Bible, had painted Wike as the Biblical Nehemiah, who had come to rebuild Rivers State from ruins of several years.

He and Wike later paced off to the road plant while lkpeazu proceeded to mount the earth-moving equipment to flag the road reconstruction and rehabilitation.
