Arewa Consultative Youths Movement distances self from call for NNPC’s probe over dollar remittance to CBN

114

The  Arewa  Consultative  Youths  Movement has dissociated itself from a statement credited to it calling for the probe of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPC Ltd) over alleged shortfall in its dollar remittance to the Central Bank of Nigeria.

A statement by the President of the movement, Kabiru Yusuf, expressed serious concern about criminals who indulge in impersonating him or his office, threatening to bring them before the law if they fail to desist, saying he did not issue such statement.

Persecondnews had reported that contrary to the claim of zero-dollar remittance into Nigeria’s foreign reserve by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPCL) by the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele, the national oil company had in the first six months of 2022 swelled CBN account with $2.7 billion.

Investigations revealed that Emefiele’s blame of NNPC Ltd for its woes and failings at the apex bank is nothing but crass negligence and being economic with the truth on his part.

Emefiele had tried to jab NNPC for the  crisis being experienced by the Naira for what he called non-remittances by the company.

The Naira has in the past months plummeted to an all-time low of about N730 to a dollar in the parallel market and inflation rate at about 18 per cent with Emefiele in the panic mode, blaming stakeholders for his incapacities and flip-flop policies.

“It has come to my knowledge that there is a press text in circulation issued by the Arewa Consultative Youths  Movement   signed   by   myself   the President, Mal. Kablru Yusuf, calling for the president to probe NNPC Ltd over remittance shortfall to the Central Bank.

“I want to completely dissociate myself from the above statement as it did not emanate from neither myself nor any members of my executive council or even any member of the Arewa Consultative Youths Movement.

“As a matter of fact, I am not aware of It and saw it for the first time after it has been published. Worthy of note here is that, as at the supposed time and date of the briefing, l was away attending a function at my son’s school and therefore, cannot be in two places at the same time.

“This is the work of perjurers who are aimed at tarnishing my image and dragging my hard earned reputation built over years of hard work, dedication and selfless service to the mud.

“At this juncture, I must warn that those criminals who take joy in impersonating my humble self should Immediately desist from It as I will leave no stone unturned In bringing them before the law to face the appropriate punishment for their crime.

“It is on this note that I call on the general public to remain watchful and kindly note that as the President of the Arewa Consultative Youths Movement, I remain resolute and committed to upholding and maintaining the constitution and thus goals of my organization.

“Viza Viz, any statement from my humble self will be communicated through the Arewa Consultative Youths Movement’s Publicity Secretary duly signed,’’ the movement said in the statement given to Persecondnews on Wednesday.

The Arewa Consultative Youths Movement advised members of the public not to take Into consideration such statements and avoid falling victims of deception.
