The West Minister Magistrate’s Court, United Kingdom, on Thursday ruled that the kidney donor in the case of former Deputy Senate President, Dr Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, is not 15 years old as claimed.

The kidney donor, David Nwamini Ukpo, admitted in court that he is 21 years old, contrary to earlier claims that he is 15.

He also disclosed that he had been in the UK since February but only presented himself to the police in May.

Recall that Persecondnews had reported that the former senator and his wife were arrested on June 23, 2022, by the UK Metropolitan police and were charged to court for conspiracy to human trafficking offences by bringing a “child” to the UK for alleged organ harvesting.

The police mentioned in a statement that an investigation was launched on the duo after detectives were alerted to possible crimes being committed under modern slavery legislation.

Persecondnews gathered that the alleged victim was brought to the U.K. by the couple for medical investigations for a kidney donation to their daughter, Sonia Ekweremadu, who has been suffering from kidney disease and needed a transplant.

Earlier, the lawmaker and his wife had pleaded not guilty to the charges of human trafficking and organ harvesting at the continuation of their trial in the UK court on Thursday.

The court thereafter fixed August 4, 2022, for the next hearing while the defendants are to remain in custody till then.
