Political catastrophe: Cross River Gov. Ayade loses APC senatorial ticket

774

In Cross River State APC Senatorial primary election on Saturday, it was a woeful tale of how the might, timber and “iroko” fell and failed.

For Prof. Ben Ayade, the sitting governor, it is one defeat too many — catastrophic.

He lost his bid to secure the All Progressives Congress’ ticket to run for the Northern Senatorial District of the state.

Persecondnews reports that Ayade, who defected in 2021 from PDP that brought him to power to APC, polled 52 votes, slumping to a woman, Adams Cecelia, who scored 140 while another aspirant, Martin Orim, scored 61 votes.

Ayade will exit office in 2023 as  governor after a two-term tenure.

He had earlier some few weeks ago announced his presidential ambition.
