Ramadan: 8 women and men nabbed in Kano by Hisbah police for snatching phones inside mosque

At least, eight young people including women who sauntered into a mosque in Kano during the ongoing Ramadan and snatched worshippers phones have been busted.

The suspects who also engaged in other criminal activities, were caught at Al-Furqan mosque in Nasarawa GRA of Kano metropolis, Persecondnews reports.

The Commander-General of Kano State Hisbah Corps, Sheikh Harun Ibn Sina, announced the arrests on Tuesday in the state capital.

The Kano State Hisbah Corps is a religious police force in the state that is responsible for the enforcement of Shari’a to the only Muslims.

Apart from phone snatching, the suspects were also apprehended for allegedly taking hard drugs and other intoxicants near the Mosque.

Sina he frowned at the crimes committed by the young men and women, describing them as inappropriate.

“Islam prohibits Muslims from engaging in immoral acts during fasting period.”

He urged the public to be more vigilant and report any suspected criminal or offenders of the law to appropriate  authorities.

The Hisbah Board would not relent in its efforts at sanitizing Kano State of all forms of vices, Sina said.

On the suspects, he said they would be handed over to the relevant authorities for necessary action.
