Sir Victor Osamuyimen Uwaifo, Nigerian professional musician and ace guitarist, has exited the world.
Aged 80, Edo-born Uwaifo reportedly died during a brief illness.
Uwaifo was a writer, sculptor, and musical instrument inventor, and university lecturer.
He was the first music legend to be appointed as Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism in Nigeria; he served in Edo State.
Uwaifo also bagged the National Merit Honours of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON).
He was one of the original ambassadors of Afrobeat to the world and an inventor of the double neck “magic guitar” with 18 strings and also a genius at sculpting.
Persecondnews recalls that Uwaifo was conferred with the prestigious Living Human Treasure award by UNESCO.
