Just in: Ogun Senator, NADECO chieftain, Olabiyi Durojaiye, dies at 88

A former Nigerian Senator, Otunba Olabiyi Durojaiye, has passed on.

The 88-year-old Durojaiye reportedly died in the early hours of Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at a Lagos hospital.

Persecondnews recalls that Durojaiye, who hailed from Ijebu area of Ogun State, was elected Senator for the Ogun East constituency in the Fourth Republic (1999-2003) on the platform of Alliance for Democracy (AD).

He was in the forefront of the struggle for the enthronement of democracy in Nigeria in 1999 as a NADECO chieftain.

Durojaiye had called the shots as the Chairman, Board of Commissioners for the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
