Changes in NNPC management: Senior staff elevated to top executive positions

In a bid to reposition and give fillip to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) towards attaining global excellence and profitability, the corporation’s Executive Management has announced the promotions and appointments of some senior staff to fill key vacant positions.
The exercise has thrown up Mr. Billy Okoye as the new Group Executive Director, Ventures and Business Development while Mrs Aisha Ahmadu-Katagum is the new Group Executive Director, Corporate Services.
The repositioning also saw the disengagement of Engr. Yusuf Usman, formerly Chief Operating Officer, Gas and Power, according to a statement by the corporation’s Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Dr Kennie Obateru, a copy of which was given to Persecondnews.
Until their new appointments, Mr Okoye and Mrs Ahmadu-Katagum were Group General Managers, Crude Oil Marketing Division (COMD) and Supply Chain Management Division respectively.
Engr. Adeyemi Adetunji, formerly Chief Operating Officer, Business and Ventures Development, becomes the Group Executive Director, Downstream, while Mr. Mohammed Abdulkabir Ahmed, formerly Chief Operating Officer, Corporate Services, becomes the Group Executive Director, Gas and Power.
Other Chief Operating Officer positions in the corporation have now been redesignated as Group Executive Directors (GEDs) in line with the rules of Company and Allied Matters Act (CAMA), preparatory to the new status of the corporation as a Limited Liability Company, post-Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB).
The new appointments include that of Mr Garba Deen Muhammad, who will take over from Dr Kennie Obateru as the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the corporation.

In keeping to the mandate of gender balance, Sophie Mbakwe who is currently the General Manager Supply Chain has been promoted as Group General Manager Supply Chain.

 

Also approved is the redeployment of Mansur Sambo who was former MD of NPDC.

Group Managing Director of NNPC, Mallam Mele Kyari, expressed the hope that the new appointments would enable the corporation to live up to the expectations of Nigerians and achieve its vision of becoming a world-class energy company of choice.
