Just in: Twitter ban: FG goes tough, Justice Minister to prosecute violators

…Office of Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation to “swing into action”

Following the ban slammed on Twitter by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration on Friday, the Federal Ministry of Justice has given teeth to the order.

To this end, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Malam Abubakar Malami (SAN) has ordered the prosecution of offenders of the government ban on Twitter operations in Nigeria.

Malami directed the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation (DPPF) at his office to “swing into action and commence in earnest the process of prosecution of violators of the Federal Government De-activation of opetations of Twitter in Nigeria”.

A statement by Dr Umar Jibrilu Gwandu, the Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations to the minister and given to Persecondnews, said on Friday in Abuja.

The DPPF is to liase with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy, National Communication Communication (NCC) and other relevant government agencies to ensure the speedy prosecution of offenders without any further delay, ” it said.
