The decade-long crisis of funding that had bedeviled the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso in Oyo State jointly owned by Osun and Oyo States has finally been laid to rest as the ownership has been given to Oyo.

While the main university campus ownership was transferred to Oyo, the College of Health Sciences, Osogbo, was ceded to Osun.

The Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, announced this at a news conference in Abuja on Friday as both states have agreed on the terms of settlement.

This followed the intervention and  mediatory role by the NUC on the need to restore peace, tranquility and conducive learning environment in the institution.

Persecondnews recalls that both states had established their own universities under the previous administrations.

“It is gratifying to note that after extensive deliberations, negotiations and consultations, both owner states mutually agreed terms, and the joint ownership of LAUTECH was formally dissolved,” Rasheed told newsmen.
