NNPC GMD warns citizens not to fall for Facebook scams using his name

“I do not have an active Facebook account since 2015,” Mele Kyari, group managing director of the NNPC took to twitter to warn Nigerians and foreigners about scams using his name and face in promotions on Facebook.

“Beware of anyone posing as Mele Kyari on Facebook. A simple google search reveals over 25 Facebook account bearing Mele Kyari. I do not have an active Facebook account since 2015 and communicate with the public only on this verified twitter account. Beware of fraudsters.”

This is not the first time the head of the State Oil Firm has combatted what he calls “scams” on Facebook. 11 years ago, he posted a similar warning message to his followers, in which he wrote: ”
