Newly-elected Kogi West Senator, Adeyemi, takes oath

….In the Senate APC now has 63, PDP 46, YPP 1 

Senator Smart Adeyemi (APC Kogi West), was on Wednesday, sworn in by the Senate President, Dr Ahmad Lawan as the 63rd APC lawmaker in the Upper Chamber.

Adeyemi emerged victorious at the bye-election conducted on Nov. 16, in the district by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He defeated Senator Dino Melaye who earlier occupied the seat.

With the swearing-in of Adeyemi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) now has 63 Senators in the Upper chamber with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Young Democratic Party (PDP) having 46 and one member respectively.

Adeyemi had served in the 6th and 7th Senate as PDP Senator, and was the Chairman Senate Committee on the FCT.

He was also a one-time National President  of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
