Russia–Africa Forum to Address Image of the Future African Continent As Buhari Arrives Sochi

President Muhammadu Buhari arrived Sochi Monday night for the Russia-Africa Summit and Economic Forum scheduled to take place on 23–24 October at the Sirius Park of Science and Art.

 

The session ‘The Future of the African Continent: Sovereignty and Traditional Values as Crucial Elements of a Development Strategy’ will be a key part of the agenda at the Russia–Africa Forum on 24 October.

 

“Preserving national identity is a prerequisite for the harmonious development of any country and an optimal foundation for building a successful society, said Alexander Malkevich, Chairman of the Commission of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation on Development of the Information Community, Mass Media and Mass Communications and President of the Foundation for National Values Protection.

” This is particularly important for African countries, where identity and continuity are part of the self-identification of residents”, Alexander Malkevich said. “We deeply respect the traditions of other states. And we are ready to assist our partners in choosing the best path”.

Economic and political sovereignty are the foundation of development in the modern world. The African Union’s strategic framework Agenda 2063 highlights the importance of preserving African values and Pan-Africanism. The discussion participants will outline the most pressing issues that dictate the future of Africa and discuss possible solutions. In addition, another important topic in the session participants’ speeches will be Russian assistance to African countries in drafting a development strategy, including in matters concerning the preservation of sovereignty and the right to take independent decisions.
