The Nigerian women’s national team, the Super Falcons, will face France in a friendly match on November 30, 2024, at the Stade Raymond Kopa in Angers.

Persecondnews reports that this encounter is part of both teams’ preparations for upcoming major tournaments.

The Super Falcons, nine-time African champions, are gearing up for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco next year.

Meanwhile, France, the UEFA Women’s Nations League runners-up, is preparing for the UEFA Women’s Euros in Switzerland in 2025.

The friendly match will provide valuable experience for the Super Falcons as they face a strong European opponent.

Historically, Nigeria and France have met three times at the senior women’s national team level, including twice at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

France has dominated their previous meetings, winning all three encounters.

Their first meeting in 2011 ended 1-0 in France’s favour at the FIFA Women’s World Cup group stage. In 2018, France recorded an 8-0 victory in an international friendly match, their biggest win over the Super Falcons.

The last meeting between the two teams was at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup group stage, where Wendie Renard’s penalty secured a 1-0 win for France.

The Super Falcons will look to improve their record against France and gain valuable experience in European conditions.

The friendly match comes at an ideal time for both teams, with the draws for the next UEFA Women’s Nations League around the corner for France.
