Wike names ex-Head of Service, Udo Atang, Special Assistant on Administration

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has appointed Dr. Udo Samuel Atang as Senior Special Assistant on Administration.

Mr. Anthony Ogunleye, Director of Press in the Office of the Minister, signed a statement describing Dr. Atang as a seasoned administrator with extensive experience in public service, governance, and administration.

Atang had served as the Head of Service of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, where he brought his wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role.

Born on March 27, 1964, in Eket Local Government Area of Akwa-Ibom State, the SSA holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Calabar, which he obtained in 1987, and began his career in the defunct Ministry of the Federal Capital Territory in 1989.

Atang has had a distinguished 35-year career in the FCT Administration, holding various senior administrative positions that ultimately led to his historic appointment as the pioneer Head of Service of the FCTA in March 2024.

Notably, President Bola Tinubu extended his tenure as Head of Service for six months, a testament to his exceptional leadership, after reaching the retirement age of 60 on March 27, 2024.

The statement reads: “Dr. Atang’s expertise has been instrumental in driving various reforms and initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of government operations.

“In his new role as Senior Special Assistant on Administration, Dr. Atang, who is a fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, will work closely with the FCT Minister in overseeing key administrative functions within the administration, ensuring seamless coordination of activities, and providing strategic advisory support to the Minister.
