Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker is expected to return from injury for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Alisson has missed the Reds’ last two games due to injury, with Caoimhin Kelleher filling in admirably.

However, Slot revealed that the Brazilian goalkeeper participated in part of Thursday’s training session and is likely to start against Wolves.

“He trained yesterday with the group, and we expect him to do the whole session today,” Slot said during his pre-match press conference. “We think he is available, but we have to train today.”

Slot praised Kelleher’s performances in Alisson’s absence, highlighting the strength of Liverpool’s goalkeeping options.

“Caoimhin did really well in the two games he was in goal for us,” Slot added. “It’s another example of me having two, and I think even three, good options in certain positions.”

Liverpool sits second in the Premier League, just one point behind champions Manchester City, with four wins from their first five matches.

Slot acknowledged the positive start but emphasized the need for improvement.

“It’s been a good start, but not a perfect one,” Slot said. “Every home game you lose is a disappointment, especially if it’s not against a team competing for a top-four position.”

The Dutch manager also highlighted the continuity in Liverpool’s playing style since his arrival, citing the retention of key players from Jurgen Klopp’s era.

“The style we play, the way we play, it’s still very close to what you guys were used to for nine years,” Slot explained.
