SP Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, issued a statement on Tuesday announcing the prohibition of the Ashura procession and all other forms of protests by the IMN.
Adeh emphasized that the command will rigorously enforce the ban and prosecute anyone who defies it, without exception.
She reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring law and order in the FCT.
The statement reads: “According to the intelligence we have gathered, members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, also known as Shi’ite, are planning to hold a protest/procession to commemorate the 2024 Islamic calendar day of Ashura.
