Sammie Okposo is not dead but is with Jesus, singing with angels, family says

The family of the gospel singer, Sammie Okposo, has officially confirmed his demise.

Persecondnews reports that the award-winning Okposo reportedly
slumped and died in his home earlier on Friday.

The family said in a statement: “It is with a heavy heart but with total submission to God that I announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, minster of God, Sammie Okposo.

“Sammie slept and went to be with the Lord on the morning of Friday, November 25, 2022.

“We are consoled because we know that he is with Jesus singing with angels, we kindly request that the family is allowed to grieve peacefully at this time.”

The statement signed by Hector Okposo, on behalf of the family, said more details about the burial will be communicated soon.

Persecondnews recalls that Okposo had narrowly escaped death two years ago and also celebrated silk anniversary with his wife.

Born on May 30, 1971, was a music producer, psalmist, and CEO of Zamar Entertainment.

He released his first album, “Addicted”, in 2004 and collaborated with many artistes in the gospel and soul music fields, including Marvellous Odiete on “Follow You”.

Okposo had performed regularly in Africa, Europe, and North America and curates a series of concerts called SOPP (Sammie Okposo Praise Party).

His most recent album, “The Statement”, (2018), was produced by the Grammy-winning Kevin Bond.

Among the awards and recognitions won by Okposo are 1994 Fame Music Award, Most Promising Male Artiste Won
1997, The Movie Awards, Nigeria Best Sound Track, 2001 Amen Awards, Nigeria Best Gospel Artiste, 2002 Power of Music and Praise Awards Best contemporary gospel Artiste, Gospel Artiste of the year, 2003 Kora Awards, and South Africa Best Male Gospel Artiste in Africa.

He also won Album of the year,
Nigeria Gospel Music Awards, and Nigeria Artiste of the year 2012 as well as 2014 Africa Gospel Music Awards (UK) Music Video of the Year (Who Tell You Say).
