A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a restraining order preventing the faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) headed by Kabiru Turaki from entering or operating at the party’s national secretariat.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik delivered the ruling on Monday while granting reliefs sought in a suit filed by PDP members aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The judge also directed security agencies, including the Nigerian Police Force and the Department of State Services, to provide necessary protection that would allow the Wike-backed group to have unfettered access to and conduct activities from the PDP national headquarters.
Justice Abdulmalik described the national convention held on November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan — which produced the Turaki-led faction — as having been conducted in clear violation of existing court orders.
She, therefore, declared the entire exercise a nullity, pointing to contraventions of Section 287(3) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) as well as the PDP’s constitution.
