Beyond Palliatives: Nasboi Slams Politicians Over ‘Small Handouts’ Amid Rising Hardship

Rising Afrobeats singer and popular skitmaker, Nasboi, has lashed out at Nigerian politicians, who in their desperate bid to win the support of young people for electoral gains, are doling out bags of rice and small handouts.

The social critic cautioned that “stomach infrastructure” has lost its power to pacify.

As living costs soar and opportunities vanish, millions of Nigerians are now far too deeply entrenched in economic hardship to be swayed by the same old political tactics.

Nasboi, known for using humour and satire to comment on social issues, took to social media to express his disappointment with the political class, accusing them of repeatedly underestimating the intelligence and awareness of the country’s youth.

According to him, the days when politicians could easily secure loyalty with temporary gifts are fading, as more young Nigerians are beginning to demand accountability, transparency, and genuine leadership.

“Your rice and small handouts won’t carry us through years of hardship,” he wrote in a strongly worded message directed at political leaders.

“You know what is right. Do the real work, take real action, and stop trying to outsmart us with crumbs. Nigeria deserves better,” the singer said.
