Police authorities in Ogun State have dismissed the”fake news” circulating on social media regarding the purported arrest of a rape accuser.
Police spokesman Oluseyi Babaseyi said on a Channels TV programme on Thursday monitored by Persecondnews that the woman featured in the viral TikTok video remains free as the command continues its investigation into the matter.

He further cautioned the public against spreading unverified information that could compromise the case.

“Our investigation is still ongoing and in due time an update will be given, but what we are trying to dispel is the allegations online that we arrested her,” he said.

Babaseyi explained that the woman reported the matter to the police, prompting an investigation, but was never taken into custody.

To protect the integrity of the case, the police are currently withholding information about the alleged attacker.
Spokesperson Babaseyi confirmed that official invitations have been issued to relevant parties, with updates to follow as the investigation matures.

He further noted that the victim is under medical care, asserting that her well-being remains the department’s primary concern.

The police statement aims to curb the widespread misinformation that surfaced after the case went viral.

Officials emphasized that members of the public should refrain from passing judgment until the Ogun State Command concludes its investigation.
