The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has urged the international community to join forces in eliminating energy poverty across Africa.

Speaking at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC 2025), NNPC Ltd’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, emphasized the need for pragmatic partnerships and sustainable investments.

“Africa’s energy future must be built on pragmatism, partnerships, and purpose. At NNPC Limited, we are not just participating in the energy transition — we are shaping it from an African perspective,” Ojulari said.

He highlighted Nigeria’s progress in increasing crude oil output to 1.7 million barrels per day, with plans to reach 2 million barrels per day by 2027 and 3 million barrels per day in the long term.

Ojulari attributed this success to redefined relationships with International Oil Companies (IOCs) and local independents, coupled with reforms that remove legacy barriers and promote shared value creation.

“Our focus is pragmatic: grow production, monetize gas, deepen partnerships, and deliver value to Nigerians and global partners alike,” he added.

The NNPC Ltd CEO also disclosed plans to attract $30 billion to $60 billion in new investments by 2030, targeting deep-water exploration, gas development, and cost-reduction initiatives.

Key projects include the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline, the Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) Gas Project, and the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Initiative.

“Our message to the world is clear: Nigeria is open for business. NNPC Limited is fit for the future, and we invite the world to co-invest in Africa’s energy transformation,” Ojulari reiterated, echoing calls for pragmatic energy policies and significant global investment.
