Drama as Lagos Appoints Mandykiss Drug Abuse Ambassador

1.3k

Barely days after she made headlines with her announcement to attempt a Guinness World Record challenge, Lagos content creator Ayomiposi Oluwadahunsi, popularly known as Mandykiss, has been appointed as an ambassador for the Lagos State Kicks Against Drug Abuse (LASKADA).

The announcement was made on Tuesday, September 30, by the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, who said the appointment was part of the government’s drive to engage young influencers in championing healthier lifestyles.

Mandy Kiss’s new role as a government-backed anti-drug abuse figure has sparked significant public discussion.

This turnaround comes shortly after the government previously dismissed her controversial record attempt proposal, stating the venture did not align with societal values.

Reactions online have been divided.

While some fans celebrated her new status, hailing it as a positive step for youth engagement, critics accused the government of sending mixed signals—condemning her one week, then rewarding her the next.

Supporters of the decision argued that Mandykiss’ following on social media makes her a strong voice in discouraging substance abuse among young people, especially those who look up to her lifestyle and content.

On the other hand, skeptics say the appointment reflects the government’s tendency to chase clout rather than uphold consistency in values, with some suggesting that better role models could have been chosen for the position.
