The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has advised the public to disregard a fake recruitment notice circulating online, purportedly for the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC).

A statement from the National oil company’s spokesman, Mr. Olufemi Soneye on Friday said the announcement is a scam aimed at defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.

“The purported recruitment link being circulated in various on-line platforms is the handiwork of fraudsters who are keen on taking advantage of the newly revamped Port Harcourt Refinery to fleece unsuspecting members of the public with a phantom recruitment announcement,” Soneye said.

The Port Harcourt Refining Company recently resumed operations after a rehabilitation project launched by the Nigerian government in 2019.

The $1.5 billion project aimed to restore the refinery to its nameplate capacity of 210,000 barrels per day.

NNPC Ltd clarified that there is no separate recruitment process for the Port Harcourt Refinery, and any recruitment announcements would be made through official channels.

The company warned the public to be cautious and not fall for the scam.

Persecondnews recalls that the NNPC Ltd had announced a recruitment process in 2024, which included all its businesses, and successful candidates are currently proceeding to the interview stage.
