Nigerian stars set to shine at 2025 Grammy Awards with record nominations

Nigerian music stars have taken the spotlight in the 2025 Grammy Award nominations, dominating the “Best African Music Performance” category.

The Grammy Awards, set for February 2, 2025, will be a thrilling event for African music, especially with Nigeria securing an impressive seven nominations in this category.

The Best African Music Performance category is an all-Nigerian lineup, showcasing the nation’s musical prowess and the growing appeal of Afrobeats and African genres worldwide.

Among the nominations is Yemi Alade’s powerful anthem “Tomorrow,” alongside the chart-topping collaboration “MMS” by Asake and Wizkid.

This remarkable sweep emphasizes Nigeria’s role as a cultural force within the music industry.

Other highlights in the category include a cross-cultural hit with “Sensational,” a track by Chris Brown featuring Nigerian stars Davido and Lojay.

Burna Boy also continues his Grammy success streak with a nomination for “Higher,” a song that showcases his artistry and influence on a global scale.

Known for his blend of African sounds and themes, Burna Boy has become one of Nigeria’s most celebrated Grammy contenders.

Also making waves is Tems, whose nominated track “Love Me JeJe” has garnered widespread acclaim.

Her soulful and captivating style has quickly propelled her into the international music spotlight, with this Grammy nod cementing her position as an artist to watch.
