Nigerian music sensation and Marilan Records founder, Naira Marley, who returned to Nigeria few hours ago, is already in the custody of the Lagos State Police Command.
He is being investigated over the death of his former protege, Mohbad.
The Command’s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the embattled singer has been taken into custody.
For weeks, speculation had been rife regarding Naira Marley’s whereabouts following the untimely demise of Mohbad, a rising star under his wing.
The singer, whose real name is Azeez Fashola, had been facing intense public scrutiny amid reports linking him to Mohbad’s death.
Persecondnews reported that Naira Marley had in a statement on his return to Lagos expressed his commitment to assist the authorities in uncovering the truth surrounding Mohbad’s passing.
He had said: “I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important I do my part for Imole.
“I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail.”
