Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), is leading a delegation to the World Port Conference #IAPH2025 in Kobe, Japan.

The conference, themed “Reinvention and Prosperity in Turbulent Times,” brings together port executives, policymakers, and industry leaders from over 89 countries to address pressing maritime sector challenges.

In a post on its official X handle on Wednesday, NPA noted that during the visit, Dr. Dantsoho will tour Kobe’s port facilities to gain insights into seismic-resilient infrastructure and smart logistics.

“These insights will be directly applicable to NPA’s ongoing Port Modernization Program, which aims to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of Nigeria’s ports.

“The program focuses on infrastructure renewal, digitalization, and automation to improve port operations and reduce carbon emissions,” it stated.

Persecondnews reports that the World Port Conference #IAPH2025 aligns with NPA’s commitment to port automation and its recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with APMT to electrify container freight, reducing the carbon emissions footprint.

Dr. Dantsoho’s participation in the conference demonstrates NPA’s dedication to adopting sustainable port practices and reducing its environmental impact.

On the sidelines of the conference, Dr. Dantsoho will meet with investors and explore partnership opportunities to enhance NPA’s infrastructure and equipment renewal.

This will help drive the authority’s port modernization efforts and improve the overall efficiency of Nigeria’s ports.
