Another devastating building collapse occurred on Thursday in Lagos on Adeniji Adele Road on the Island.

The three-story structure crumbled, prompting an immediate response from emergency services who rescued at least four occupants and transported them to the hospital.

According to Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos state commissioner for information the cause of the collapse is yet to be determined.

“It is not yet clear why 2/4, Asesi Lane, Sasi Lane, (SASI Palace), Adeniji Adele Road went down,” Omotoso said in a Facebook post on Thursday.

“Four persons have been rescued from the rubble. They have been taken to hospital.”

The commissioner confirmed that rescue operations are ongoing, with officials working to determine if more individuals remain trapped under the debris.

The incident has sparked concerns about building safety in Lagos, which has experienced a string of similar collapses in recent months.

On May 27, one person died when a building under construction collapsed in Ikorodu, while another storey building under construction collapsed on May 18 at Ishaga road.

Persecondnews recalls that in April, a three-storey building collapsed in Ojodu-Berger, resulting in seven deaths and 13 rescues.

A March incident in Odoriwu estate, Lekki, saw two people lose their lives when a three-storey building collapsed.

LASEMA, LASAMBUS, Lagos state fire and rescue service, LNSC, LASTMA, and the police are among the agencies responding to the scene.

The rescue efforts are ongoing, and officials are working to ensure that no one is left trapped under the rubble.
