In a momentous achievement that will be etched in the annals of Nigerian football, Remo Stars FC of Ogun State has emerged as the champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the 2024/2025 season, reports Persecondnews.

The club from Ikenne secured their championship victory with three matches still to play after a captivating 1-0 win against Niger Tornadoes on Sunday during match-day 35.

This triumph represents an extraordinary journey for Remo Stars, a club established in 2004 by the visionary businessman Kunle Soname under the initial name of Dender FC.

From the humble beginnings in Lagos’ Ketu area, the club has evolved into a powerhouse, with a thriving academy, women’s team, and a state-of-the-art stadium in Ikenne.

After two agonizing second-place finishes, Remo Stars’ relentless pursuit of excellence has finally paid off, as they claim their place among Nigeria’s elite.

Under the guidance of coach Daniel Ogunmodede Remo Stars developed a unique playing style which has been instrumental in transforming young grassroots players into professional footballers.

The team’s success is a testament to the vision of Kunle Soname, who has invested heavily in building a sustainable football institution.

Remo Stars’ 1-0 win over Niger Tornadoes took them to 68 points, opening up an unassailable 10-point gap ahead of second-placed Rivers United with three games left to play.

Olamilekan Adedayo’s late strike in the 83rd minute sealed the win for coach Daniel Ogunmodede’s side, sparking jubilation among the players and fans.

With this feat, Remo Stars has become the first Southwest club to win the Nigerian top-flight title since Julius Berger’s triumph in 1991.
