Carlo Ancelotti’s tenure as Real Madrid manager appears to be drawing to a close, with the Italian coach set to step down after the Copa del Rey final on April 26.

The decision comes on the heels of the club’s disappointing exit from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Arsenal, losing 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu following a 3-0 deficit from the first leg.

Ancelotti’s side had been expected to go far in the Champions League, but Arsenal’s solid defensive display proved too much for the reigning European champions.

Despite the loss, Ancelotti praised Arsenal’s performance, saying, “Arsenal were better than us. We tried to do our best.”

He also pointed to a potentially game-changing overturned penalty decision as a turning point in the match.

With his future uncertain, Ancelotti hinted that his time at Real Madrid may be coming to an end, noting, “It could be this year, next year when my contract runs out. There’s no problem about it.”

Meanwhile, Brazil are reportedly optimistic about appointing Ancelotti as their new head coach, with negotiations expected to intensify in the coming days.

Ancelotti’s departure would mark the end of an era for Real Madrid, with the Italian coach having led the club to numerous titles, including the Champions League and La Liga.

Despite this season’s setbacks, Ancelotti’s legacy at the club remains strong, with him expressing gratitude to the club, saying, “When I am done here, I will be grateful to this club.”

As Ancelotti prepares for what may be his final match in charge, Real Madrid face a busy schedule ahead, including La Liga fixtures against Athletic Bilbao and Getafe.
