NOC extols late Taekwondo President Saidu Abdullahi

The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has described the passing away of Saidu Abdullahi, the President of the Taekwondo Federation of Nigeria as a significant loss to the sports community in Nigeria and beyond.

The NOC highlighted his exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication to the development of Taekwondo in Nigeria in his life time.

Engr. Habu Gumel, the President of NOC, said the Olympic Movement Nigeria is deeply saddened about the passing of Abdullahi, who was a respected member of the Olympic Committee’s board, and Chairman of the NOC Finance Committee.

A statement released in Lagos on behalf of the Movement by Tony Nezianya, its Public Relations Officer given to Persecondnews on Wednesday said the Taekwondo helmsman’s commitment to nurturing talents led to the emergence of outstanding athletes, including the remarkable Elizabeth Anyanacho, OLY, who proudly represented Nigeria at the recent Paris Olympic Games.

“Saidu’s contributions will be remembered as vital to Nigeria’s sporting legacy. His passion for Taekwondo, vision for the federation, and commitment to the empowerment of athletes have left an indelible mark on the sport.

“He will be remembered for his achievements, kindness, mentorship, and commitment to fostering a thriving sports environment.

“We extend our condolences to his family, friends, and those touched by his life and work. May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire future generations of athletes in Nigeria,” the statement said.
