Chelle vows to make Super Eagles world’s good attacking force, qualifies Nigeria for World Cup

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) officially unveiled Eric Chelle as the new head coach of the Super Eagles on Monday at the Moshood Abiola Stadium Media Centre, Abuja.

Speaking at the inauguration, NFF President Ibrahim Gusau expressed  confidence in Chelle’s ability to lead the team to World Cup qualification, saying the task ahead is not beyond the new coach.

“He took a pay cut to get this job, that shows his willingness to work with us. He will gets an additional one-year contract if he qualifies us for the World Cup,” Gusau said.

“He is coming with three assistants which he will pay from his pocket. Chelle will be supported by our own home-based coach Daniel Ogunmodede and Enugu Rangers coach Fidelis Illechukwu.”

Gusau called on all football stakeholders to unite and support Chelle, saying: “Eric is here to work, let’s give him the necessary support so we can get the desired goal. He has the ability to take us to the World Cup, and we believe in him.”

Chelle, who was presented to the media, expressed his passion for the Super Eagles and his desire to make history with the team.

“I come to Nigeria to work, I love the Super Eagles. I have been a big fan of this team since I was young. When I was a kid, I had a jersey of the Super Eagles,” Chelle said.

Despite his reputation for being strict, Chelle promised to be a “big brother” to the players.

He outlined his projects to include transforming the Super Eagles into a formidable attacking force, citing his success in Mali where his team scored over 40 goals and conceded only 13.

“My project is to make the Nigerian team a good attacking force in the world,” Chelle said.

The new coach’s first major challenge will be the World Cup qualification matches, and he has called on all football stakeholders to support him.

With Chelle at the helm, Nigerian football fans are eagerly anticipating a new era of success for the Super Eagles.
