Alleged treason: Court grants bail to Nigerian whistleblower PIDOM

Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to Isaac Bristol Tamunobiefiri, a prominent whistleblower, commonly known as PIDOM.
Nwite issued the order in response to a motion on notice that Mr. Deji Adeyanju’s team of lawyers had filed.
This development follows his earlier arrest by the Nigeria Police Force, specifically officials from the National Cybercrime Centre, over allegations of undermining the integrity of government operations.
Tamunobiefiri operates as an anonymous whistleblower on X.com, is 99% oppressed, and tweets as #PIDOMNIGERIA.
In his ruling, Justice Nwite granted PIDOM ₦5 million bail with one surety in like sum.
He also ordered the accused to deposit his international passport with the court.
Part of his bail conditions include that the surety must be resident in Abuja and depose an affidavit of means.
In addition, the surety must provide evidence of three years of tax clearance, along with two passport photographs.
Isaac is standing trial for alleged treason, accused of mobilizing support to compel the government to act or abstain from certain actions through the #EndBadGovernance protest.
Specifically, he is facing charges that include making false money-laundering allegations against President Bola Tinubu and unlawfully obtaining, retaining, and disseminating classified documents, violating the Official Secrets Act of 1962.
