The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the appointment of a new Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory Command.

The new FCT CP is Mr. Peter Opara, the immediate past CP in the Force Secretary’s Office, Abuja, and also the former Deputy Commissioner in charge of Administration and Finance at the Imo Police Command.

Persecondnews reports that Opara now takes over from Police Commissioner Benneth Igwe, who has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police and takes on a new role leading Zone 7 in Abuja.

Opara once served as the Personal Assistant to former PSC Chairman, ex-IG Mike Okiro.

Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, the Head of Press and Public Relations at the PSC, announced the appointment in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.

Ani confirmed that the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, recommended the new posting.

Persecondnews recalls that the PSC on Friday approved the appointment of four new substantive Commissioners of Police, who will head the commands in Abia, Lagos, Ebonyi, and Akwa Ibom States.

The newly appointed Commissioners are: CP. Isah Danladi Nda for Abia State Command; CP. Olarewaju Ishola Olawale for Lagos State Command; CP. Anthonia Adaku Uche Anya for Ebonyi State Command; and CP. Miller Gajere Dantawaye for Akwa Ibom State Command.
