President Bola Tinubu is currently holding a closed-door meeting with the National Security Council, comprising top officials of security chiefs and heads of paramilitary agencies.

The president’s office in the Presidential Villa in Abuja is the venue for the meeting.

Gen. Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, is heading a delegation of service chiefs and other top military and paramilitary officials to the meeting.

The meeting is taking place against the backdrop of widespread protests across the country, with demonstrators demanding action to address hunger and poor governance.

Tinubu, in a national broadcast on Sunday, urged the organizers of the nationwide protests to call off the demonstrations, particularly since they have turned violent in some states, resulting in loss of life and property damage.

The president acknowledged that he has clearly heard the protesters’ grievances but also cautioned that he will not stand idly by while some individuals, allegedly manipulated by opposition politicians, attempt to undermine the country’s democratic system.

Other attendees at the meeting include Vice President Kashim Shettima, President’s Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, and several other key officials.
