The Bauchi State Government has lost one of its commissioners in a fatal road accident in the state.
He is 60-year-old Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Jalam, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
The commissioner and his driver met their untimely deaths on Saturday, June 1, while they were travelling to Jalam’s hometown, Jalam, in the Dambam local government area of the state.
Meanwhile, grief-stricken Gov. Bala Mohammed said in a statement on Sunday, June 2, by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado:“It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the sudden death of the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Bauchi State, Hon. Ahmed Aliyu Jalam (Maikankana), who died as a result of a ghastly motor accident on Saturday, 1st June 2024.
“His demise is deeply felt by His Excellency, Governor Bala Mohammed, his cabinet colleagues, friends, family, and the countless individuals whose lives he touched during his lifetime.”
Mohammed extended his deepest condolences to Jalam’s family and the entire state, praying that Almighty Allah forgives Jalam’s shortcomings and grants him Aljanna Firdaus.
The deceased, who leaves behind wives and many children, held the positions of Commissioner for Religious Affairs and the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in 2019 and again in 2023, until his passing.
Jalam was buried on Sunday, June 2, in his hometown, according to Islamic rites.
