David Adeleke, a.k.a. Davido, an award-winning Afrobeats sensation and master of the art, is calling it quits with his first love—music.

Davido said he would retire from music after his next album, Persecondnews gathered from his X handle.

The ‘Unavailable’ crooner disclosed this on Thursday night in reaction to the recent pictures and videos doctored against him by some blogs.

According to Davido, some people desperately want him out of the music industry.

He wrote on his X handle: “Yall niggas really want me out of the game that bad?? Oya after next album I no do again. So una fit get peace.”

According to Persecondnews, Davido recently stated that since he entered the music industry, most of his colleagues haven’t experienced peace of mind.

This comes a few hours after dropping Kante’s visuals to wrap up the era of his fourth studio album, titled ‘Timeless.’

‘Kante’ is the 10th track off ‘Timeless’, one of the standout tracks from the Grammy-nominated album, which was released in March 2023.

The singer said he now looks forward to a new era of new music and new milestones.

In his career trajectory, Davido rose to fame with his 2012 hit ‘Dami Duro’ under HKN Music and established DMW, his music label, in April 2016.

The label has served as home to music talents such as Mayorkun, Peruzzi, and Dremo, among others.

In March, Davido rebranded his label to DMW 2.0 and unveiled two new artistes — Morravey and Logos Olori.

Davido had in 2023 earned his first-ever nomination for the Grammy Awards in three categories, including ‘Best Global Album’ for his latest album, ‘Timeless’.

Other awards were ‘Best African Performance’ for his song ‘Unavailable’ and ‘Best Global Music Performance’ for his track ‘Feel’.

He also lost ‘Best Global Music Performance’ to ‘Pashto’ by Béla Fleck, Edgar Meyer, and Zakir Hussain, featuring Rakesh Chaurasia, and ‘Best Global Album’ to Shakti’s ‘The Moment’.
